CORNELL, NY – Coming off a week where the Hampton University sailing team garnered its first co-ed national ranking in school history, the Pirates captured the team title for the second year in a row on Sunday at the Henry Luce Trophy hosted by Cornell University. “This was a solid finish to a great week for our program,” said Hampton coach Alessandro Ambrossi. “First national ranking in school history, 18th in Gill Sailing World Co-Ed rankings, and then win a very strong meet for the second year in a row, puts us in a good spot heading into the final weeks of the fall.”
The Chowan Swimming team produced strong swims as the Hawks competed against Division I programs Howard and George Washington in a tri-meet on Saturday afternoon.
The Maryland Eastern Shore bowling team was voted seventh in the year’s debut National Tenpin Coaches Association poll released Wednesday (Oct. 4). The Hawks finished last season at No. 6 in the poll after trips to the NCAA and USBC Championships.

The Chowan Men's Soccer team continued their winning ways as the Hawks handed North Greenville a 3-0 shutout loss in Conference Carolinas play on Saturday afternoon.
The Chowan Women's Soccer team notched their eighth shutout of the season as the Hawks defeated North Greenville 2-0 in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.
Rah Rahs Entertain Elementary Students
The Virginia Union University cheerleaders, the Rah Rahs, were invited to participate in the Homecoming activities at Charles City High School on Friday, October 5, in Charles City, Va. Virginia Union University's Jamaica Adams had a season-high five service aces while teammate A'rmaria Wright had 10 assists to power VUU to a 25-20, 25-20, 25-22 sweep of Bowie State University on Monday, October 9, in Bowie, Md.
Maryland Eastern Shore cross country gears up for their final two regular season meets before the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championships. Both meets will take place at the site of MEAC’s—the Delaware State Outreach and Research Center in Smyrna, Delaware.
Chowan's Men's Golf team placed 18th in the Myrtle Beach Invitational after completing the second and final round on Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks posted a 336 team round two score.
The Chowan Women's Golf team wrapped up round one of the Patsy Rendleman Invitational hosted by Catawba College. The Hawks sit in 16th place after posting a 350 team score
